NHRA Div 6 ET Finals
Pete got the jump on Brad with a 0.012 versus 0.015 light, but threw it away with a 10.959 on an 11.00 dial. Never the less, Vinje's killer '10.58 with a 5' on a 10.58 probably would heve been hard to beat anyways. Congrats to both of them for beating out the best Division 6 has to offer, and especially to Brad Vinje for earning a trip the Drag Racing holy grail; the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona November 9-12!
Vinje's win in Super Pro caps an almost all-Mission sweep. Depending on who you ask, Four of the five classes in the Div 6 Race of Champions were won by Team Mission drivers. In addition to the Super Pro win, MissionRaceway.com is reporting:
- Curtis Munson won over Robert Steffen in Pro
- Anita Cunningham over in RJ McAnulty for Bike/Sled
…but word from the guys down at the track is Team Mission won High-School too. Anyway you slice it, congrats to all!
Team Surrey In A Hurry didn't have the same kind of luck… In the first round of eliminations, Zak Clarke beat up his Ors-powered smal-block, shutting off 'cause of plumetting oil pressure. Speaking of Ken Orser, his day wasn't much brighter. Still in the first round, mysterious gremlins found their way into the roadster, and it refused to flash. The folks in staging gave as much time as they could but eventually called the matchup a single, eliminating Ken. Of course, the second the the race was called, Orser's roadster roared to life — just in time for him to drive back to the trailer. Well, you know what they say guys… Win or lose… Hit the booze!
