Sorry, couldn't resist the Fiddy reference there. Anyways, Last Wednesday (April 11th) a bunch of the Surrey In A Hurry folks met up with a buncha Samz Pub staff and friends and we lit it up! Nothing like a good bender on a school night, right?

MRP Opener Off

MRP's season opener has been canceled 'cause of all the rain.

Sunday March 25, 2007

March 30/31 April 1 Drag Race Weekend CANCELED
"We need at least three days of no rain
to even allow trucks and trailers into the pit area"
Drag Race Director Wally Duperon said today. "The
pits are a swamp, and that's not even getting into
making the track surface race ready."

The decision was made to cancel the season opening
drag race event because of the record amount of
rain the area has received over the past few weeks
plus the fact the forecast does not look promising.

At this time the season opener will move to the
weekend of April 6/7/8 with more details to follow.
The video will be changed asap.

This does not effect road racing or moto cross.

’07 Eagle Season Opener!

Hey! Look at me… I'm famous. Thanks to Larry Pfister from horsepowerheaven.com for being there to capture me during another proud moment. The fact that this gem is the only photo in HH's report on the 2007 Eagle Motorplex season kickoff is just icing on the cake. (EDIT: Oh no… there's more now) On the other hand, maybe the photo caught an extraordinary moment: I am amazed that those things made it on me and stayed intact. They weren't even real big to start with. (What are they made of? Does NASA know about that material?) Notice Eagle Racing
Association (ERA) Vice-President Ken Orser and NHRA Division 6 Tech Big Wig Dennis Boley making sure everything is kosher. On second thought, it kinda looks like Orser's just checking out my butt.  

I'd also like to bring attention to the night's Nuts & Bolts competition champion, rainman HiVolt (center, background) Seems the 2006 champ came ready to play! He annihilated the competition (myself, 2006 N&B runner-up included) with a blistering 1:20 performance! Or maybe it was 1:21 or 1:19… by that point I wasn't very good with remembering things… but I do know it was really quick and everyone pretty much gave up after that. Congrats HiVolt!

In an impromptu N&B final round of the night, Stock Eliminator racer Cory Thompson challenged Surrey In A Hurry's own Zak Clarke to a high stakes, winner-take-all match. While both put blistering 2+ minute times on the board, our boy Zak was a little less slow than Cory, handing the win to team Surrey In A Hurry!

As everyone recovers from last night we'll have more stories and pictures from the 2007 Eagle Motorplex season opener. Until then Surrey In A Hurry would like to thank everyone involved in making the night a success, especially the members of the newly formed Eagle Racing
Association. Last night's party and continued racing at Eagle Motorplex are fruit from all the hours and hard work they continue to put in. Thanks!
